The article presents the results of research on the influence of the PVD coating on the cutting tool on the surface roughness and energy consumption in the cast iron turning process. It was shown that the use of coated tools leads to obtaining a surface qualitatively corresponding to the ground surface and to the reduction in the power consumption of the machine tool. In addition, the process itself, carried out without the use of a cooling and lubricating liquid, is more eco-friendly, as it excludes its use, disposal and negative environmental impact.
