Streszcznie
Any activity connected with the limitation of anthropogenic CO2 emission is called the CCS technology (Carbon Capture and Storage or Carbon Capture and Sequestration) and consists of three steps: CO2 capture, CO2 transportation, and storage or utilization. The process of mineral carbonation, or in other words, mineral sequestration of CO2 can be used as the last step of the CCS technology. This process bases on the reaction of CO2 with metal oxides which results in insoluble carbonates occurrence and heat is emitted. The carbon dioxide binds by using selected natural raw materials or waste, mainly in the form of suspensions. The mineral sequestration of CO2 with use of waste seems to be the most interesting. In this method the waste do not have to be pre-treated, as it is in the case of natural raw materials. Waste does not generate any cost of output on the contrary to raw materials. The mineral sequestration may be also the way to utilize the commercially unexploited or partly exploited waste. The process of mineral sequestration of CO2 with use of waste was examined in the direct way with use of suspension. However, the problem how to manage the suspension used in the sequestration is still discussed. The literature on this subject suggests to introduce CO2 into the suspension technology. In this case the technological parameters of suspension may change. The article shows the influence of CO2 on the properties of fresh water-waste suspension made from selected energy waste.
