Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA) is an important tool for integrating environmental considerations into territorial planning and sustainable development. This study compares SEA practices in the United Kingdom, Poland, Romania, and Ukraine to identify best European practices and formulate recommendations for Ukraine. The study used a comparative approach based on analysis of legal frameworks, consultation systems, and official SEA reports. The results show that the United Kingdom demonstrates advanced use of geographic information systems and interdisciplinary consultations, Poland effectively integrates Natura 2000 requirements, and Romania applies strong interagency coordination mechanisms. The findings suggest that wider application of European SEA practices may strengthen environmental planning and support sustainable post-war recovery in Ukraine.
